The Two-Day Academy Program is designed for the player new to the indoor lacrosse game. The purpose of the Two-Day Academy is to introduce the basic skills, strategies, and techniques essential to playing an indoor lacrosse game.
Participants attending the Two-Day Academy will receive expert training and introduction to:
- Basic elements of the rink, learning to take advantage of the features glass and boards;
- Cradling techniques,
- Two-man pick and screen series;
- Three-man play;
- Four-man game;
- Introduction to 5-v-5;
- Corner play;
- Basics of the alley system; and
- Introduction to transition (defense-to-offense).
The following tools, techniques, modalities, and resources will be used throughout the Two-Day Academy to deliver the introductory training:
- Rink time (2 hours/day) which includes a series of high-tempo, mid-tempo and low-tempo drills;
- Classroom sessions that cover introductory concepts and principles including stick care/advice, mental training, and nutrition;
- Off-rink debriefing to reinforce teaching points;
- Slow Motion Video coaching with each athlete;
- Ten-minute game.
