Early Childhood Development

The American Indoor Lacrosse Academy has combined our love and knowledge of lacrosse with the world renowned child development theories and professionals to create a multi faceted early childhood program.

Our program is for children between the ages of 2+ to 7; what child psychologists call the pre-operative stage of development.  To accommodate the needs of this age group the Academy ECP incorporates imagined situations, and co-operative play with lacrosse skills, to develop team readiness, physical fitness and much more.
Each ECP session is a world of imaginary play suited to the child’s age and readiness. It is 50 minutes of creative, high energy and age-appropriate activities that teach technically sound lacrosse skills and help children master developmental milestones.  Our specifically trained Guides will lead children through creative, active play that develops social, emotional and cognitive skills as well a sense of confidence and empowerment.

Instructors are carefully selected and thoroughly trained to adapt to the needs of every child and meet them “where they’re at”. The American Indoor Lacrosse Academy believes in a Player Centered Approach (PCA) to teaching/coaching. Throughout our programs we encourage independent, experimental play to produce a more confident and creative individual who will work to improve their physical and technical skills in sport and beyond.

We use the Player Centered Approach to teaching, where success is measured in effort, instead of results. Children are challenged to do tasks that are within their abilities.  Participants will receive a Personal Success Record Book which will include traditional stories about the origins of lacrosse, activities that reinforce imagined play and roles each child has practiced.  Efforts are rewarded with high fives, positive reinforcement, stickers and stamps to record in their Record Book.

Our child development program is based on the game of lacrosse and our purpose is to help children mature on all levels.  Our classes focus on building a strong physical, intellectual and emotional foundation that will help children be successful in all parts of their lives.  We use methods specifically designed for the pre-operative child, to create an atmosphere that is effective and fun.  The program might be your child’s first group, team or sport experience, so it is our aim to make it a positive one.
